Andre Drummond
Before he was an All-Star center for the NBA’s Detroit Pistons, Andre Drummond faced bullying and rejection as a child. Classmates called him “tall and slow” and even insulted him with the R-word. Drummond channeled that pain into success and now feels driven to create a positive impact on those who face discrimination. During his rookie season, Drummond discovered Special Olympics at an NBA Cares event and felt an instant connection with the athletes. Today he is a Special Olympics Global Ambassador who engages with Special Olympics athletes in his home town and abroad. Follow Andre Drummond and Special Olympics Michigan’s Kennedy Panthers as they build a more inclusive world through sport.
